Description

The minutes of the Union Cemetery Club showed that a meeting was held June 10, 1899, to acquire land for a "burying place for colored people." The land was purchased on June 25, 1899. The cemetery is fenced and contains over one hundred burials, many unmarked.

The Union Cemetery Club decided that two acres of land which was available for sale at $10.00 an acre was appropriate for their needs. The first officers of the cemetery association were J. Jacobs, Chairman; J. Simmons, Clerk; and S. M. Parker, Treasurer. Over forty lots were sold.
