1. Use quotation marks around the search word (s.)  example "William A. West"  "The Pines"  “Underground Railroad”

2. People of Interest - search Life stories, Oral Histories, Interviews, Family Histories etc.

3. African American soldiers - search Military, United States Colored Troops, Buffalo Soldiers

4. African Americans' Accomplishments - search African Americans Working for Change

5. Slavery - search using Enslaved, Slave, or Black Americans

Fairfax County Street Names – The African American History Inventory debuted in November 2022.  Street names used in the African American History Inventory are current to that release date.

Please note the following:  Lee Highway (Route 29) and Lee Jackson Memorial Highway (Route 50) names will change to their route numbers 29 and 50 in Fairfax County. In Fairfax City,  Old Lee Highway is now Blenheim Boulevard.
